Sarah founded QueensBench in San Francisco in 2013 in order to meet the unique hiring needs of high-growth technology companies, many of which face novel and complex legal, compliance and commercial challenges.

A former Skadden M&A lawyer with over 13 years of executive recruiting experience, Sarah has led C-level Legal, Compliance and Privacy searches at companies in highly-regulated industries (including FinTech, Insurance Tech, Health Tech and Transportation) as well as software/SaaS, cybersecurity and entertainment.

Sarah spent her childhood in South Africa, then lived in London for several years before moving to San Francisco in 2004.  She obtained her LL.B from the University of Exeter, UK and is qualified as a solicitor in England & Wales.  She enjoys bad puns, good journalism and all kinds of dancing.

Leigh Goldsmith Maurus, Director of Legal Recruiting

Leigh brings a wealth of bicoastal and entrepreneurial experience to QueensBench. She majored in English Literature at UC Berkeley, before beginning her legal career at the Department of Justice in Washington, DC. After obtaining her JD from Boston College, Leigh practiced as a litigator at a leading San Francisco law firm before escaping the tyranny of the billable hour to launch and operate two different design businesses alongside organizational leadership roles at nonprofits.

Since joining QueensBench in 2020, Leigh has successfully recruited top candidates for both pre-IPO and public companies on the East and West coasts, as well as in Europe. She has also developed unique talent benches and networks as a result of leading searches for crypto/web3 companies and venture capital firms.

In her free time, Leigh is an avid hiker and traveler, as well as an adventurous and accomplished chef.
